Every Tuesday Evening

The jam session started in 1998 under the leadership of Lawrence Strickland and others.  Usually 15-20 musicians, along with many listeners, show up at the park pavilion.  During cold weather, the group meets at the Lions Club in Gainesville.  Country, bluegrass, and gospel music are featured, with some fiddle music and jig dancing.  No electric instruments are allowed.

The musicians perform in a circle The musicians perform in a circle, and a microphone attached to a portable amplifier is passed around the circle so everyone has an opportunity to sing.  Musicians pictured include Clifford Siefert on mandolin and Kurt Duncan on dobro.  Guitars are most numerous, but accordions, basses, and fiddles are often seen.
Occasionally someone will jig dance, in this case organizer Lawrence Strickland. Warren Moody is playing the fiddle. Occasionally someone will jig dance, in this case organizer Lawrence Strickland.  Warren Moody is playing the fiddle.
