About the Curriculum Resource Center (CRC)

The Curriculum Resource Center (CRC) is designed to provide services and materials for students pursuing undergraduate or advanced degrees in the areas of early childhood, elementary, and middle school education; guidance and counseling; library science; reading; special education; and secondary education. The collection of books, software, CDs, and DVDs reflects a small, preK-12 school library. The collection also includes K-12 textbooks, posters, historical children’s literature, and curriculum guides for lesson planning. The Curriculum Kit area contains materials such as science instruction kits, multimedia teaching programs, puppets, and games. An Ellison die-cut machine with an assortment of dies is also available for patron use.

Best New Books to Engage Students in Math and Science

In working with teachers and pre-service teachers, we often get requests for “good” books to accompany math and science curriculum. We have read all of the books in this bibliography and recommend them. We have also attached Grade Level Expectations to each title so that books may be chosen to expand the particular concept being taught. The GLE codes are given on this first page for clarification of the document.

Multicultural Titles For The Middle Grades

These selected titles are among the best multicultural works for grades 4 through 8 published in 2005-2006. Genres covered include contemporary fiction, historical fiction, folklore, biography, poetry, and nonfiction.

Class Visits

With the multitude of resources available to education students, learning how to quickly find the right material for lesson plans, class assignments, and research papers can help reduce stress! Students are always encouraged to ask for assistance in the CRC; however, at times it is helpful to have an information literacy (IL) session for a class or group of students so that they can hit the ground running on a specific assignment. Email or call Cherri or Emily to schedule a visit in the CRC or in your classroom. Advance notice makes it easier to tailor a visit to your needs, as well as to book the LIS computer classroom for your IL session if needed. Evening as well as daytime class visits are a norm – we’ll make every effort to schedule you in!
