Garnett Library Computer Room

The Computer Room provides 15 computers with access to the Internet, campus network, and basic computer applications needed for class assignments. Two of the 15 computers are multi-media stations with publishing software and color scanners attahced. A Mac video editor computer with iMovie software, iDVD software, and Final Cut Exprerss HD software is also available to create video on DVDs.

Other equipment includes: videotape and audiotape duplication equipment, voice-over tape player, slide reviewer, slide projector with audio, VCRs, projection screens, Elmo visual presenter, 3 laptops, and 3 omputer projectors. Cameras for video (analog and digital) and cameras for still photos (35mm camera and digital) can also be checked out. A copy stand is also available for video and photography. A DVD recorder is also available to duplicate sound and video to DVD from mnay different sources.

With these resources it is possible to create color transparencies, newsletters, slide presentations, PowerPoint presentations, videotape presentations, DVD presentations, audio tapes, duplicated audio and video tapes (original tapes only), copy slides to CD, copy videotape to DVD, record many formats to DVD, create web pages and more.

Computer Access

A computer ID and password is necessary to use on-campus computers and to access the electronic journal indexes and full-text from an off-campus computer. You must be a faculty, staff, student, or emeritus member at Missouri State University in order to obtain a computer ID and password. Guest accounts may be authorized if the usage is consistent with the purpose and mission of the University. Complete the "Computer User ID Request Form" available from Missouri State University - West Plains Computer Services or Garnett Library.

Dual credit instructors may request a computer ID/password and library privileges by completing appropriate forms from the Enrollment Services Office. Per course instructors may request a computer ID/password and library privileges by completing forms available in the Office of the Dean of Arts and Sciences. Forms are also available at the Garnett Library service desk.
