Biographical/Historical Sketch
This collection combines a number of scrapbooks transferred to the library during the years prior to the establishment of the University Archives. Given the nature of the news articles, the scrapbooks were probably compiled by the offices of University Communication and Sports Information (or their precursors).
Scope and Content
The scrapbooks can be divided into two types: those focused on sports and others with general information on the University. The format and condition of the scrapbooks varies widely. Many scrapbooks are handmade with large sheets of tan paper.
It should be noted that some scrapbooks were removed from the collection because they were in very poor condition, with most of the articles loose. For those volumes (dating from the 1960s), the articles were reviewed for the University Archives vertical file collection. Those articles with historical value were copied and placed in the appropriate subject file.
