The Board of Governors for Missouri State University consists of nine individuals from each of Missouri’s nine congressional districts. Individuals are appointed to the Board of Governors by the Governor for six-year terms. Additionally, since 1984, a Student Regent has also been appointed to the Board for a two-year term, though this position is non-voting. Prior to 1995, the Board of Governors was known as the Board of Regents. In 1995, Senate Bill 340 authorized a statewide mission for the university and selection of representatives from across the state rather than solely from the southwest region. The job of the Board of Governors is to decide policies for the university, to approve the annual budget, and to hire the university’s presidents, among other similar duties.
Items in this collection include agendas from the meetings of the Board of Governors and a few supplemental materials (such as Fruit Experiment Station Reports). The 1967-1968 Board of Regents Agendas can be found in the Design and Construction Collection. The collection also includes some minutes from the meetings of the Board of Governors for reference use.

Official records are maintained by the Secretary of the Board. Sunshine requests can be directed to the Internal Auditor of the university, located in Carrington Hall.
